These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the PROSHIELD Roof Coating website and the services we provide.
By using our website, requesting a quote, arranging an assessment, or engaging PROSHIELD Roof Coating (“PROSHIELD”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) to provide services, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms apply to our general website and service arrangements. Specific terms, pricing, inclusions, exclusions and requirements relating to a particular project will be set out in the written quote, proposal, service agreement or other documentation provided to you.
1. Our Services
PROSHIELD Roof Coating provides roof-related services that may include:
- Roof cleaning and preparation
- Roof repairs
- Roof painting and recoating
- Roof restoration
- Protective roof coatings
- Related roof maintenance and preparation services
The availability and suitability of particular services will depend on the condition, construction, location and requirements of the roof or property.
We reserve the right to determine whether a particular roof or surface is suitable for the proposed service.
2. Quotes and Estimates
Any quote or estimate provided by PROSHIELD is based on the information available to us at the time of assessment.
A quote may be affected by factors that are not reasonably visible or identifiable before work begins, including concealed damage, structural issues, difficult access, unsuitable surfaces, previous coatings, or other conditions discovered during preparation or the work.
Where additional work is required that was not included in the original quote, we will discuss the additional work and associated costs with you before proceeding, where reasonably practicable.
A quote does not constitute acceptance of a contract until the relevant quote, proposal or service agreement has been accepted by both parties.
3. Site Assessments and Inspections
Where a site assessment or roof inspection is required, we will assess the property based on reasonably accessible areas and the conditions visible at the time.
A visual inspection is not necessarily a structural, engineering or invasive inspection.
We may recommend that you obtain advice from a qualified building professional, engineer or other specialist where an issue falls outside the scope of our services.
4. Roof Condition and Existing Damage
Roof coatings and restoration work cannot necessarily correct underlying structural or building issues.
Existing problems may include, but are not limited to:
- Structural deterioration
- Leaks or water ingress
- Rust or corrosion
- Cracked or damaged roofing materials
- Failed fasteners or flashings
- Damaged gutters or drainage
- Previous coating failure
- Substrate deterioration
- Moisture trapped beneath existing coatings
Where we identify conditions that may affect the performance or suitability of the proposed work, we may recommend repairs or additional preparation before coating or painting proceeds.
5. Preparation and Surface Conditions
Proper preparation is an important part of roof coating and painting.
Depending on the roof, preparation may include cleaning, treatment, removal of loose or failed material, rust treatment, priming, repairs or other preparation reasonably required for the proposed coating system.
The final appearance and performance of a coating can be affected by the condition of the existing roof, previous coatings, surface contamination, weather conditions and other factors outside our reasonable control.
6. Colour and Finish
Where you select a colour or finish, PROSHIELD will use reasonable care to apply the selected product and colour.
Actual colours may appear slightly different depending on lighting, screen settings, surface condition and the existing colour of the roof.
Minor variations in texture, gloss or appearance may occur due to the nature and condition of the roofing surface.
7. Weather and Working Conditions
Roof coating, painting and preparation work can be affected by weather and environmental conditions.
Work may need to be delayed, rescheduled or temporarily stopped because of rain, excessive moisture, strong winds, unsuitable temperatures, extreme weather or other unsafe conditions.
Where weather or site conditions prevent us from safely or appropriately completing the work, we will arrange a suitable alternative time where reasonably practicable.
8. Access to the Property
You are responsible for providing reasonable access to the property and areas required for us to carry out the agreed services.
This may include access to the roof, exterior areas, water supply, power supply, gates or other areas reasonably required for the work.
You should inform us before work begins of any known access restrictions, hazards, fragile surfaces, underground services or other relevant site conditions.
9. Customer Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate information relevant to the project
- Provide reasonable access to the property
- Inform us of known hazards or property conditions
- Obtain any necessary permission or authority required for the work
- Remove or secure items that could reasonably be affected by the work
- Keep children, pets and unauthorised persons away from work areas
- Follow reasonable safety instructions provided by our team
You remain responsible for obtaining any approvals or permissions that are your responsibility as the property owner, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
10. Additional Work
If conditions are discovered that require work outside the original scope, additional work may be quoted separately.
We will seek your approval before carrying out additional chargeable work, except where immediate action is reasonably necessary to prevent damage, protect safety or comply with legal requirements.
Additional work may include repairs, replacement of damaged components, additional preparation, access requirements or other work not reasonably identifiable when the original quote was prepared.
11. Payment
Payment terms, deposit requirements, progress payments and final payment requirements will be specified in the applicable written quote, proposal or service agreement.
Invoices are payable according to the payment terms stated on the relevant invoice or agreement.
PROSHIELD reserves the right to suspend or delay work where agreed payments are not made when due.
12. Cancellation and Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule an agreed service, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Cancellation or rescheduling fees, where applicable, will be outlined in the relevant quote or service agreement.
We may also need to reschedule work because of weather, safety concerns, product availability, unforeseen site conditions or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
13. Products and Coating Systems
Where applicable, PROSHIELD may recommend or use specific roof coating, paint, primer, cleaning or repair products based on the requirements of the project.
Product availability may change from time to time.
Where a particular product is unavailable, we may propose a suitable alternative, subject to your approval where the change materially affects the agreed scope or price.
Manufacturer instructions and product specifications may also apply to the use and performance of particular products.
14. Workmanship and Product Warranties
Where a workmanship warranty or manufacturer product warranty applies to your project, the relevant warranty terms will be provided in your written quote, proposal, service agreement or other applicable documentation.
Any warranty is subject to its specific terms and conditions.
Warranty coverage may be affected by factors including lack of maintenance, structural movement, storm or weather damage, impact, third-party work, alterations, misuse, pre-existing conditions or other circumstances outside the scope of the warranty.
15. No Guarantee of Exact Service Life
Roof coatings and restoration systems can provide protection and improve the appearance of a roof, but their performance and service life depend on a range of factors.
These may include:
- Roof condition
- Existing substrate
- Preparation
- Product selection
- Application
- Weather and environmental exposure
- UV exposure
- Moisture
- Maintenance
- Structural movement
- Damage or alterations after completion
Accordingly, unless expressly stated in writing, PROSHIELD does not guarantee that a coating will remain in a particular condition for a specific number of years.
16. Property and Surrounding Areas
We will take reasonable care when carrying out our work.
However, roof preparation, cleaning, coating and painting can involve water, dust, debris, cleaning products, overspray and other materials.
You should follow any preparation instructions provided by us before work begins.
Where reasonably practicable, we will take appropriate measures to protect surrounding areas, plants, property and surfaces from damage or contamination.
17. Photography and Project Images
We may take photographs of completed work for our internal records.
We will only use photographs for marketing, advertising, social media or website purposes where we have appropriate permission or another lawful basis to do so.
Where photographs are used publicly, we will take reasonable steps to avoid unnecessarily identifying private individuals or sensitive personal information.

21. Liability
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under New Zealand law.
To the extent permitted by law, PROSHIELD will not be responsible for loss or damage caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural events, pre-existing structural conditions, concealed defects, third-party actions or conditions that could not reasonably have been identified before work commenced.
Where liability cannot legally be excluded, it will be limited to the extent permitted by applicable law.
22. Consumer Guarantees Act 1993
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any rights or guarantees you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or any other applicable New Zealand law where those rights cannot legally be excluded.
